Why SQL
What is SQL actually used for in a Philippine workplace?
Three jobs a spreadsheet handles badly, and where each one shows up here. SQL is how you ask a database a question directly, instead of waiting for somebody to export a file for you.
Get the number out of the system, not out of somebody's export
In a Philippine company the data usually lives in a database behind the POS, the ticketing tool, or the HR system. Excel only sees a file somebody already filtered, so the moment your question differs from theirs, you wait on IT.
A BPO reporting analyst who is asked for the breach rate by category cannot get it from the daily ticket count. She has to query the ticket table herself.
Join two systems that were never designed to talk
Customers sit in one table and orders in another, joined only by an id column. One JOIN answers what a VLOOKUP answers slowly, and only for as many rows as the file will open.
The e-commerce project here gives you one file of customers and another of orders, then asks which provinces deserve the ad budget. You cannot answer without joining them.
Apply a business rule the same way every month
Targets that differ by priority, a status column typed four ways by four people, amounts stored as text with a peso sign: that is CASE logic and NULL handling. Written once, the rule runs identically next month.
The support ticket project sets a different target per priority and leaves some tickets open. Deciding how the open ones count is the real work.
The Bootcamp
What does the bootcamp cover for SQL?
Read from the same catalog that prices the checkout, so what you see here is what you are buying.
SQL + AI
One of the 7 priced components that make up the AI-Powered Data Analytics Career Bootcamp. Bought on its own it is ₱1,500. Inside the bundle it costs nothing extra, because the whole bundle is ₱6,000 against a separate total of ₱11,500.
AI sits alongside it, which for SQL means using ChatGPT or Claude to explain an error, translate a date function between engines, and review your queries for readability, rather than to write them for you.
4-Month Advanced Data Analytics Training
Advanced · Recorded sessions
- Write deeper SQL to answer harder business questions
That module is part of the AI-Powered Data Analytics Career Bootcamp Premium at ₱12,500. We do not publish a lesson by lesson SQL syllabus, so rather than pad one out here: go query the datasets below, for free, and judge the level from the work.
Free SQL Practice
Where can you practice SQL for free right now?
Nothing here is charged and none of it is a preview of paid content: 2 SQL projects, 2 Data Cleaning Lab scenarios, and 5 Client Simulator engagements, against 1,948 rows of practice data with the answers published so you can mark your own work.

Then keep going, still free
- Data Cleaning Lab: 2 scenarios solved with queries, covering duplicate rows, orphaned records, amounts stored as text, and a status column typed four ways. The key gives the exact query.
- Client Simulator: 5 SQL engagements where you play the analyst for a Filipino client, making one judgment call per phase from defining the question to telling them what to do.
- Interview Simulator: 24 SQL questions across the Data Analyst and BI Developer question banks, asked out loud with a clock running, because knowing a JOIN and saying it under pressure are two different skills.
- SQL best practices for beginners: how to write queries other people can read, which is most of what separates a beginner from someone a team trusts.
The projects alone publish 9 verified answers you can mark your own queries against. Every brief, task list, and answer key is public. The dataset downloads and the scored tools ask for a free member sign-in, and nothing is charged. If you finish all of it and still want live sessions, feedback, and a certificate, that is when paying starts to make sense.
Which To Learn
SQL, Excel, Power BI, or Tableau: which should you choose?
All four are in the bootcamp, so this is not a sales question. It is a sequencing question, and getting it wrong wastes months.
SQL
If the answer needs more rows than a spreadsheet will open, or lives in two systems that only share an id column, reach for SQL. It is also the one to learn if the job title you want says analyst, reporting, or BI.
You are on this guideExcel
If the data already fits in one file and your question changes every time you ask it, stay in Excel. A Philippine office will usually hand you a spreadsheet long before it hands you database access.
Read the Excel guidePower BI
If other people need the same answer refreshed on a schedule without asking you, that is Power BI. SQL usually feeds it: you write the query once, then the report reads from it.
Read the Power BI guideTableau
If the job is to explore visually and tell a story with the data, Tableau is faster. Learn it after SQL, because a chart is only as trustworthy as the query behind it.
Read the Tableau guide
Want the whole analyst path rather than one tool? That is the data analytics bootcamp in the Philippines, which is where SQL, Excel, Power BI, and Tableau are taught together against one portfolio.

FAQ
SQL course in the Philippines: FAQs
It is worth learning if you want the reporting, analyst, or BI side of the work, because that is where the data sits in a database somebody has to query. SQL is also the skill that does not expire with a tool: the same language reads a POS database, a ticketing system, and a data warehouse. One graduate outcome we publish, with the screenshot, on our testimonials page: Kaye used her SQL, Excel, and Tableau training, plus the session recordings as her reviewer, to earn a promotion, and now builds dashboards and analytics on the job. We do not guarantee a job or a salary, and no honest program can.
No. SQL is not a programming language in the way Python is. You describe the rows you want and the database works out how to get them, which is why it is usually the first technical skill a non-technical person picks up. The AI-Powered Data Analytics Career Bootcamp starts from computer literate, not computer science, so if you can use a laptop and a browser you can start.
Any of them, and it costs nothing to start. The free SQL material on this site names SQLite, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and BigQuery in its setup steps, and those steps point beginners at DB Browser for SQLite first because it is a free download that needs no account. JOIN, GROUP BY, HAVING, and CASE are the same everywhere. Mainly the date functions differ, which is the thing worth asking an AI assistant about when you switch engines.
SQL is included. SQL + AI is one of the 7 components of the AI-Powered Data Analytics Career Bootcamp, listed at ₱1,500 on its own and included at no extra cost in the ₱6,000 bundle, which is a one-time payment with no hidden fees. The AI-Powered Data Analytics Career Bootcamp Premium at ₱12,500 adds four months of recorded advanced training that goes deeper into SQL, statistics, and data modeling.
If you have never worked with data, start with Excel, because that is what gets handed to you first. If you already build pivot tables and keep hitting the limits of the file you were given, SQL is next, and it is the one that changes which jobs you can apply for. Power BI and Tableau come after. All four are in the AI-Powered Data Analytics Career Bootcamp, so the order is yours.
Yes, and you should. This site publishes 2 free SQL practice projects with downloadable datasets and a published answer key, 2 SQL scenarios in the Data Cleaning Lab, and 5 SQL client engagements in the Client Simulator. The briefs, tasks, and answer keys are public; the downloads and scored tools ask for a free member sign-in, and nothing is charged. None of it is a preview of paid content.
The AI-Powered Data Analytics Career Bootcamp is delivered as live online sessions with recorded replays, so you can attend and still rewatch. The four months of advanced training added by the AI-Powered Data Analytics Career Bootcamp Premium are recorded and self-paced. Both are online, taught from Dasmariñas City, Cavite, and open to learners anywhere in the Philippines.
